How can you help??
Are you looking to make a positive impact to people's lives and within local communities?
Are you wanting to get involved and make a difference?
We are looking for people like YOU in Newport and Cardiff!
Volunteers within the Switched On Project work as a team with Tutors and Support Workers to support learners in your local communities of Cardiff and Newport. There are various roles available, and a big variety of opportunities to be involved in our courses. Once recruited as a Volunteer with the Switched On Project there are also then various free training opportunities available to you, and a chance to progress up to other roles within the Project.
Why volunteer?
- You don't need any experience or particular skills
- It is a rewarding way to spend some of your spare time
- It's a chance to make a positive impact within your local communities and open their eyes to things that are going on around you
- It's a chance to be challenged! In your perceptions of other people, and in your knowledge and skills
- You can help learners do what they can do better, rather than tell them what they can’t do
- You can get a chance to try out different things
- It is a great way to get experience, and is a very positive aspect of anybody's CV.
- It can help develop your skills of supporting others, helping people to take control of their lives...and change your own!
Interested in getting involved and making a difference? Please get in touch with a member of the team (contact details below). We will then discuss the opportunities available with you and see if you would like to be involved!

At the moment we are particularly looking for a volunteer specifically to take forward one of our groups in Cardiff - would you be interested?
Are you enthusiastic and friendly?
One of our groups runs in Newtown Court, Adamsdown (Cardiff) which is a sheltered accommodation block for older people. The role of the volunteer would be to facilitate weekly basic arts and crafts sessions that encourage the residents who attend to socialise with one another as a lot of the residents are quite isolated. These sessions not only help them to enjoy developing their arts and crafts skills, but also to meet up with each other and have a nice chat and a cup of tea. Sessions that have been done before have included card making, drawing, quilt making. The main skills the volunteer needs just include being able to be friendly, enthusiastic and encouraging for the residents - you don't necessarily have to be skilled in arts and crafts! The sessions currently run on a Thursday between 2 and 4pm but this could be changed if needs be.
Are you or somebody you know interested to know more? Please get in touch! Email Rosie.Robinson@peoplecan.org.uk or Tel: 02920 485 422.
